Job Title: Receiver

Department: Receiving and Retail

Reporting To: General Manager


Job Purpose

The receiver position is responsible for intaking arriving shipments of product and ensuring that the order was correct and without damage. This position is critical to maintaining the inventory management system at Parkway Garden Centre and involves tracking and labelling products as required. This position will work in tandem with our full time receiver


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Unload shipments 
  2. Unbox shipments
  3. Check for damage on products
  4. Collect and store packing slips for incoming orders
  5. Facilitate drop off area with various drivers
  6. Label all products going out to retail
  7. Categorize products and organize them appropriately
  8. Maintain an appropriate level of cleanliness at their work station
  9. Develop a working knowledge of the different types of plants we sell
  10.  Complete other tasks assigned to them by management

The receiver will be required to work under the direction of management, however they will also have to work under their own initiative as well. Communication with various internal departments is imperative to being successful in this position. This job will also require a tolerance to heat due to the greenhouse setting.

Hours of Work

This position is full time, takes place from March until the middle of June, and will be 5 days a week. During our busiest season from mid-April to mid-June, employees are required to work 6 days a week but will not exceed 48 hours.
